Mediocre Books
$1,000.00
Mediocre Books is a full year curriculum covering the mediocre books of Western Civilization. While we don’t have any books from the ancient period, because they weren’t deemed good enough to copy, they are readily available in large quantities in the 21st Century.
Explore the depths of the Twilight series. It’s not deep, so that’s one lesson. Next we turn to The Hunger Games, with an in-depth comparative analysis between this mediocre American Epic and the Aeneid. Left Behind (often considered a “Great Book” since it sold 60 million copies), brings students into the future, where students are shoehorned into seeing the Bible, moralism, and Revelation Tim LaHaye’s way. Mediocre Books ends with 3 lectures on The Da Vinci Code, which uncovers the hidden Logic in the film’s meta-narrative.
This curriculum is meant as a sequel to our Great Books (Old Western Culture) courses.
